Before Judge Paul D. Miller in Tama County District Court in Toledo:
Jeremy Dale Lawson, 37, rural Bloomfield, pled guilty to 3rd degree theft. He was fined $625 and sentenced to a two-year suspended prison term.
He was directed to pay victim restitution totaling $3,822 to David Ellis of Marshalltown.
Lawson was charged after he cashed a check in September of 2011 from Ellis for payment for construction of a pole building in Tama County. Lawson, owner of Sturdy Buildings, never built the building court documents state.
The charge was filed by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Bruce Rhoads.
Jeffrey Allen Stallman, 51, Walford, pled guilty to 2nd offense drunken driving. He was sentenced to nine days in jail and fined $1,875. Stallman was given credit for any jail time already served and can serve the remaining sentence in the Iowa County Jail in Marengo if the sheriffs of Tama and Iowa counties agree.
He was charged on U.S. Highway 30 near R Avenue on Jan. 15 by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Wes Sebetka.
Jay Duane Bosma, 50, LeGrand, pled guilty to public intoxication, 3rd or subsequent offense. He was sentenced to a suspended two-year prison term, fined $625 and placed on probation for one year to the Department of correctional Services.
Bosma was charged in the 300 block of Main Street in Garwin on Jan. 12 by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Joe Quandt.
