The Wieting Theatre, in conjunction with a $2,500 grant from the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, proudly presents Camp Creamery. Camp Creamery will be held at the Wieting Theatre July 22 - 26, 2013 from 8:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. with performances of Merlin's Apprentice and the Deadly Dragon on July 27 at 11:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M. Children must commit to attend the entire camp and both final performances in order to participate. Camp Creamery is for children ages 7 through high school. The cost for the camp, which includes a t-shirt, is $50 per child, with a family discount of $40 for each additional child. Scholarships are available through the Guild. What does The Old Creamery Theatre
Three professional performer/directors that instruct participants and perform with them in the show. Scripts for all participants to use for the week. Costumes for all participants to wear during the performance. Make-up for all participants to wear during the performance. Set Props. Professionally recorded music tracks.
The Old Creamery Theatre Company is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit arts organization located in Amana, Iowa that is overseen by a volunteer board of directors. The company's productions, programs, and daily activities are carried out by a small and efficient professional staff of artists and administrative personnel.
The Old Creamery is proud to be the oldest professional Equity theatre company in the state of Iowa. Founded in 1971, the company's mission is to create a tradition of high quality, live professional theatre among the people of Iowa and the Midwest. The company strives to achieve this goal by offering a wide variety of entertainment and educational opportunities for people of all ages.
The company's yearly offerings in Amana now include six productions at the Main Stage, four productions at the Studio Stage, four Theatre for Young Audiences productions at the Main Stage, and a special a dinner theatre production at the Ox Yoke Inn. In total, over 30,000 patrons are served each year at these venues.
In addition, for the past 41 years The Old Creamery has sent out a professional troupe of actors to elementary schools all over the state of Iowa in order to bring students live theatrical productions. Each year the artists write and produce a brand new show which is performed for over 40,000 students annually.
In 2007, the company began reaching out to students in a new way with the Camp Creamery program. This hands on, week-long theatre camp has already reached over 1500 young thespians since its inception and continues to grow each year allowing children ages 7 and up to rehearse and perform with professional actors in fully-mounted. original musical productions specially created for the program.
