Before Judge Mitchell E. Turner in Tama County District Court in Toledo:
Vanessa Marie Head, 25, Minneapolis, Minn. entered written guilty pleas to charges of 1st offense drunken driving and failure to appear.
For drunken driving she was sentenced to two days in jail and fined $1,250. On the appearance charge she was fined $315.
Head was charged on June 17, 2008, in the 2600 block of Meskwaki Road by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Michael Nagle.
Arlo Steven Wanatee, 42, Garwin, entered written guilty pleas to two counts of 2nd offense domestic abuse assault and two charges of violation of a no contact order. He was sentenced to suspended, two-year prison terms on the assault charges and fined $625 on each count. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail on each of the two contact violations.
He was placed on probation for two years to the 6th Judicial District Department of Correctional Services.
Wanatee was originally charged on June 12, 2012, with two counts of domestic abuse assault, 3rd or subsequent offenses in the 100 block of 1st Street, Garwin, by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Lucas Dvorak.
The charges of violation of a no contact order were filed on March 14, 2013, by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Bruce Rhoads.
Kelly Ann Deal 29, Garwin, entered a written guilty plea to a charge of no driver's license. She was fined $200.
She was originally charged on Oct. 3, 2012, for driving while barred by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Lucas Dvorak.
Daniel Shawn Posey, 33, Tulsa, Okla., entered a written guilty plea to a charge of serious assault. He was sentenced to 28 days in jail with credit for any time already served and fined $315.
Posey was charged on Feb. 21 with striking the victim with his fist resuling in cuts requiring medical attention according to court records. The charge was filed by Meskwaki Nation Tribal Police Detective Craig Karr.
Leon Charles Burton, 58, Garwin, entered a written guilty plea to 2nd offense drunken driving. He was sentenced to seven days in jail and fined $1,875.
Burton was charged on Sept. 23, 2012, at a location not noted in court records by Meskwaki Nation Tribal Police Officer Michael German.
