June Irene Nekola, 84, formerly of Elberon, died Saturday, March 9, 2013, at the Keystone Nursing Care Center following a lingering illness. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, at the Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine by Pastor Steven Rempfer. Burial will be in Stayskal Cemetery, rural Chelsea. Visitation will be 4 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
June was born June 28, 1928 in Tama County, the daughter of Albert and Ella (Zeman) Dolash. She attended country schools. She married Ed Nekola on April 10, 1947.
She was a cook at area restaurants and was a cook at the Keystone Nursing Care Center for several years.

She is survived by daughters, Diane Hoover of Linn, Mo., and Linda (Jerry) Fintel of Elberon; sons, Edward (Linda) Nekola of Cedar Rapids, Ronald (Colleen) Nekola of Jesup and Jake (Pat) Nekola of Elberon; sister, Karen Nekola of Tama; brothers, Donald (Sarah) Dolash and Fred Dolash both of Tama; and by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed; parents, Albert and Ella Zeman Dolash; brothers, Art and George Dolash; sister, Rosalie Petermeyer; daughter-in-law, Kathy Nekola; son-in-law, Gary Hoover; grandson, Christopher Fintel; and great-granddaughter, Maggie Kesl.
