Eveline A. Hixson

Eveline A. Hixson, 81, of Toledo, passed away, Friday, March 1, 2013 at Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Brian Oliver officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Monday, March 4, 2013 from 4-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home. Eveline Hixson was born on December 2, 1931, in Pierce County, NE, the daughter of Otto and Clara (Korth) Kiichler. She graduated from Osmond High School in 1949. On April 10, 1951, she was united in marriage to Arnold Gene Hixson in Osmond, NE. Eveline was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, where she was a past President for several years. She collected red glass, enjoyed quilting, bowling, and flower gardening. Eveline was a St. Louis Cardinal and Nebraska Cornhusker fan. Preceding her in death were her parents; one sister, Genevieve Schultz; and one brother, Clarence Kiichler. Survivors include her husband of sixty-one years, Arnold Gene of Toledo; her children, Patricia (Gary) Philbrick of David City, NE, Sherry (Brad) Schramm of Winner, SD, Ricky G. Hixson of Toledo, Becky Bailey of Van Meter, and Angy Hixson of Waukee; nine grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Shirley Kiichler of Osmond, NE. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Legion of Iowa Foundation at ialegion.org
