Three roads vacation hearings were conducted by the Tama County Board of Supervisors on Monday, Feb. 25. These were all for road vacations requested by land owners.

The first hearing was held at 9:30 a.m. and was for 295th Street from Highway E43 east to the end, then west to a point on the south line of Section 8, where the line will meet the Old State road, currently known as Highway E43, about 40 rods east of Schoolhouse No. 5 and ending the point above described.

The road was originally established in 1895, and is 40 feet wide. The eastern half mile of the road was vacated on May 24, 1983. The two land owners involved were Brad Benda and Roger Wacha Jr. Neither attended the hearing, so the motion to vacate that section of the road was approved.

The second hearing was at 10 a.m. and was for vacating V Avenue from 1667 feet north of 240th Street of 282.82 feet south of 230th Street and from 1700 feet north of the South West corner to 315.82 feet south of the North west corner of Section 10 of Oneida Township. The road vacation is not intended to remove easements for utilities.

There were a few present for the hearing and all agreed to the vacation.

The third road vacation was for York township. here were several concerned people present for the hearing.

This was for an undefined portion of 325th Street between W Avenue and X Avenue. The road lies in Sections 26 and 27 of York Township. The road was originally established in 1859 and was resurveyed in 1867 and being modified in May of 1876. The road is 66 feet wide.

Land owners had several questions and all agreed to have some changes made, but to do this it will be necessary to hold another public hearing.

This public hearing was set for Monday, March 4, at 9:30 a.m.

Tammie Wise with Central Point of Coordination office was present requesting changes in the payee debit card program. Wise said too many things were wrong with the present system and proposed changes to the supervisors.
