Shopko Foundation backs South Tama PBIS Program

March 5, 2013
Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

On Nov. 29, the Shopko Hometown Foundation donated $2,500 to South Tama County High School as part of the grand opening of the Shopko Hometown store located at 1006 S. County Road.

Assistant Principal Jim Plantz accepted the donation on behalf of the school and said that the money has been used to support the Positive Behavior Support and Intervention ("PBIS") program at the school.

"The PBIS program recognizes students who make positive choices," said Mr. Plantz.

"Students are challenged to 'Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Ready and Be Successful.' This program also honors a Student of the Week. Students who achieve those goals are recognized with prizes, gift cards and other rewards. The donation from the Shopko Hometown Foundation has allowed us to purchase the prizes which are so important to the success of this program."

"Shopko is committed to giving back to the communities where we are privileged to do business," said Mike Bettiga, Shopko Interim CEO and Chief Operating Officer. "We are pleased to partner with South Tama County High School to support this program which encourages and recognizes student achievement and we look forward to supporting schools in the Toledo community for many years to come."
