Following a family genealogy research three years ago and the discovery of relatives with ties to the Czech Republic from this, Aneta Stryckova came to visit her Iowa "Chmelik" family in January.
Aneta's five day visit included experiencing: a snowmobile ride, shopping and her first tenderloin in Des Moines, her first maidrite at Marshalltown's "Taylor's" and the Czech Village in Cedar Rapids.
A family supper was held at King Tower which included a surprise 17th birthday celebration. Hosts Al and Tonya provided another family night which included grilled Iowa beef, table and Wii games. Aneta made a special connection with her cousin Lydia sharing many common interests.
