The Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Wieting Theatre Guild was held on Thursday, Jan. 17, at the theatre. Before the meeting, the Guild members were officially welcomed by the Tama-Toledo Area Chamber of Commerce and were able to view the first local on-screen ads for area businesses.

Minutes of the December 20, 2012, meeting were accepted with corrections as well as the Treasurer's Report. The Guild has been able to apply $5,000 from profits toward our outstanding debt of $135,000 and is focused on getting that obligation paid off.

The Election of the Board of Directors was held with the following accepting:

The following officers were elected to serve in 2013:

Past-President RLou Snyder

President Denise Fletcher

Vice-President- Mark McFate

Secretary Barb Jordan

Treasurer Michelle Evans

In accordance with our mission statement to "promote good theatrical and cultural activity", it was decided to host The Old Creamery Theatre for a week-long workshop for children ages seven and older who are interested in exploring the exciting world of theatre. Participants will rehearse with three professional actors for four hours each day from Monday through Friday and then perform in a final musical production at the end of the week. Watch for additional details this spring.

The Guild appreciates the Toledo PEO fundraising project for the Wieting Foundation. They are sponsoring OPERA Iowa's performance of "The Elixir of Love" to be held on Friday, Feb. 22, at the Wieting with a reception to follow in the Toledo Community Building. What a great opportunity to experience a live opera!

The Opera House Project has also requested a repeat performance on Friday, May 31. They were here with their family friendly show of Iowa talent last June. The Guild welcomes them back.

The last item of business was a discussion on the upkeep of the building.

The volunteer managers, ticket takers, concession sellers, monitors, and cleaning crew have done a marvelous job of showing up on time and staying to complete their responsibilities. After a year of use the theatre still looks brand new.

A motion was made and accepted to have the clients from the Career Development Center begin cleaning the theatre. A list of responsibilities was agreed upon.
