Lester A. Lenhart, 90, of Tama passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Carrington Place of Toledo under the care of Hospice Compassus. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, Jan. 7, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama with Pastor Thomas Dowling officiating Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Jan. 6 from 6-8 p.m. at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Lester was born on May 20, 1922 in Tama, the son of Fred and Agnes (Prochaska) Lenhart. He attended rural schools and Tama High School.
On August 5, 1951, he was united in marriage to Norma Jean Suchanek at St. John Lutheran Church in rural Tama. Lester was a lifelong farmer and raised purebred Hampshire hogs.He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama and served on the church council, Tama County Farm Bureau, and Tama County Zoning Commission. Lester was a past member of the Tama Lions Club, Tama-Toledo Lions Club, and served on the Farm Service Board, Tama County Fair Board, and the Tama County Extension Board. He was also a member of the Tama County Pork Producers, 4-H Club Committee, FMFHA board, and Pioneer Cemetery board. Lester loved to hunt, fish, and travel.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, William and Lewis Lenhart.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Norma of Toledo; one son, Larry (LynnAnn) Lenhart of Eldon, Mo.; one daughter, Marsha (Dean) Benda of Roundrock, Texas; two grandchildren, Nikki (Tom) McElwee of Lees Summit, Mo., and Reid Lenhart of Warrensburg, Mo.; one great-granddaughter, Sadie Jo McElwee; one step-great-granddaughter, Emma McElwee; and one sister-in-law, Elaine Lenhart of Tama.
