Birthdays benefit Humane Society Shelter

Challenge Other Youth To Help In Similar Way

December 11, 2012
Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

Recently cousins Gabe Babinat from Tama and Ann Ecklor from Marshalltown celebrated their birthdays in a way different from the usual.

Gabe, who turned 11, and Ann who turned 8, requested their family and friends to provide supplies to the pets at the Tama County Humane Society instead of the usual toys, clothes and other birthday gifts.

Cat food, dog food and litter were provided and sent to help stock the shelves for the animals.

A portion of Ann's supplies were also sent to the Marshalltown Rescue League since she lives in Marshalltown.

After delivering the supplies the children also got to play with the animals and Gabe was allowed to adopt a very nice female kitten.

With Christmas coming up soon, Gabe and Ann would like to challenge other children in the area to consider similar requests to help out the shelters. Gabe's parents are Jason and Emily Babinat and Ann's parents are Shane and Christine Ecklor.
