A small airplane crashed northwest of Clutier near R Avenue and 245th Street on Wednesday morning, Nov. 28. A Tama County Medical Examiner investigator was summoned to the scene along with the Clutier Fire Department. Medical Examiner Dr. Dennis Mallory told The Chronicle one victim was taken to Ankeny for an autopsy at the State Medical Examiner's Office. The second victim was airlifted by Air Care from the scene. The Tama County Sheriff's Office sealed R Avenue from north and south directions at the scene of the crash.
