Russell Behounek, 79, of Chelsea passed away Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, from injuries sustained in a farm accident. Funeral Services were held Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Rev. Bobby Shomo officiating. Interment was at Rector Cemetery in rural Chelsea.
Russell was born on June 11, 1933, in rural Tama County, the son of Frank and Irene (Homolar) Behounek.
On Oct. 29, 1954, he was united in marriage to Myrna M. Stump in Unionville, Mo. Russell was a farmer and had previously worked for Grinnell Reinsurance, the Co-Op in Chelsea, and Werner's Sawmill. He was an avid hunter, especially coon hunting. He also enjoyed fishing and playing golf.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Myrna in 2004; one sister, Evelyn Aiken; and a son-in-law, Verne Johnson.
Survivors include two daughters, Deb (Skeet) White of Toledo, and Linda Johnson (Dave Goodrich) of Marshalltown; one son, Lyle Behounek (Marveen Van Gorp) of Tama; 11 grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; four nieces; and four nephews.
A memorial fund has been established.
