Victim identifed in rural Toledo farm death

TOLEDO- Russell Behounek, 79, rural Chelsea, was identified by the Tama County Medical Examiner's Office as the victim of an apparent accident on Thursday, Nov. 8, near Toledo.

Mr. Behounek's obituary has been posted.

Medical Examiner Investigator Greg Johnson said Behounek was believed using a torch to cut up what was described as a corn husking head when one of the pieces shifted and fell on him.

An autopsy by the State Medical Examiner has been ordered according to Tama County Medical Examiner Dr. Dennis Mallory.

The accident occurred near 2740 K Ave. which is north of the site of Pheasant Ridge Care Facility - the former Tama County Home.

The Toledo Fire Department and Ambulance service was summoned to the scene when it was reported about 2 p.m.
