Tama County voters rejected a ballot measure which would have tacked on an extra $1 per month telephone bill surcharge to pay for upgrades to the emergency 911 telephone system. The added fee was not to be in force for more than two years.
The unofficial result was:
YES- 3,641
NO- 3,912
A simple majority was required for passage.
