Charles Hogue still has his "overseas cap" he wore while in the U.S. Army more than 60 years ago. But you may have noticed the gentleman about town this summer sporting a fine summer hat (above.)
It's a "Dobbs" straw hat, an "El Dorado National." It was made by hand and they could only find it from hat suppliers in Chicago and New York, Charles says.
He came by it because his son Richard Hogue who lives in Bad Urach, Germany, wanted one.

When home in Iowa a while back Richard ordered one from the Chicago hat supplier and received it while here the next day.
Charles' daughter, Diane Hogue, Toledo, went online for her dad and located the source. He sent a check and got his hat two days later.
