Thanks to a grant of $1,000 from the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa the shelter located in the Oak Hill Cemetery has a new roof.
The roof's age, weather, and a windstorm had made the roof in serious disrepair. The grant paid for almost all of the materials needed to replace it.
Labor on the project would have been an additional cost. However, thanks to city employee Stuart Eisentrager, the labor was done at no cost. Stuart installed the new metal roof and used part of his budget to cover some of the cost of materials.

The new metal roof dresses up the structure and provides actual “shelter” from the elements.

Bruce Richards happened to see Stuart working on the roof, and Bruce volunteered to help.
Thanks to the Foundation, Stuart, and Bruce, the roof is now complete and a definite improvement.
