The Tama County Conservation Board is accepting names of persons interested in trapping Otter Creek Lake this trapping season. A drawing will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, October 25, at the main office- Otter Creek Park.
Interested persons may submit their name by e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org), by mail or hand deliver a letter or postcard to: Tama County Conservation Board, 2283 Park Road, Toledo, IA 52342.
The entry letter should include name, address, and phone number. Names will not be accepted over the phone. Only one entry per household and/or persons who trap together will be allowed. Entry deadline is 2:45 p.m., Thursday, October 25.
Trapping at Otter Creek Lake is for control of muskrat only and is used as a management tool in protecting shoreline at the lake. Muskrat activity can cause excessive bank erosion. The lake will be divided in half with one party trapping the west shoreline and another the east.
Trappers are reminded that the trapping season for mink, weasel, striped skunk, raccoon, coyote, beaver, muskrat, badger, opossum, otter and red & gray fox begins November 3.
