H Avenue bridge work south of Tama nears completion

Monday morning,Oct. 8, at the regular Board of Supervisors meeting, Chairman Larry Vest, Kendall Jordan and Dan Wilkens, discussed road issues with County Engineer Lyle Brehm.

Brehm told supervisors the replacement bridge on H Avenue south of Tama was pretty well completed. Brehm says the road closed signs are still up but will be removed soon.

Brehm also told supervisors the road department was still doing a little work on D65 in the northern part of the county but this is pretty well completed, as well.

Susan Jones, assistant to the engineer, presented several permits for approval including:

Windstream Communications, Inc. - place a buried copper telephone cable on T47, Salt Creek Township, to replace an existing cable that has washed out and is exposed.

Windstream Communications to sign off on the Department of Transportation permit application for placing communications facilities within the Department of Transportation right-of-way in Tama County.

T.I.P. Rural Electric Cooperative to install underground primary elelctyric cable for Poweshiek Water Association well service in Columbia Township.

Alliant Energy for work in Toledo Township just east of K Avenue.

Claims approved for the past week totaled $122,687.
