October 15, 2012
By John Speer , Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

Although the exact number isn't known, Tama County Elections Administrator Karen Rohrs says the 1,553 who had voted absentee by Tuesday, Oct. 9, was ahead of two years ago.

Although the Nov. 6 General Election is still over three weeks away, a big push by both major political parties to promote early voting has been underway.

In the 2008 General Election, a total of 2,022 absentee ballots were cast in the presidential race in the county.

In voter registration numbers as of Friday, Oct. 5, no party (independent voters) lead the way in Tama county with a total of 4,270. Republicans have 3,437 voters registered and 3,262 are registered as Democrats. There are eight voters registered in other parties.
