STC seventh graders play well in recent matches

The South Tama Middle School seventh grade volleyball team recently traveled to Benton Community for a match.

The Trojans won four of six games against the Bobcats. STC won 21-17, 21-17, 21-9 and 21-16, but fell 21-15 and 21-17.

Steph Slaven was a star serving for the Trojans. She was 21-of-22 from the line, including 14 aces. Lauren Gumm served up six aces while Autumn McFate had four for South Tama.

South Tama’s seventh grade volleyball squad hosted BCLUW last week. The Trojans recently won four of six games against Benton Community at home.

Also contributing for the Trojans were Bri Nelson, Kaylee Klostermann, Kaylee Chyma, Alexia Hoffman, and McKayla Vest, who served 2 aces each.

The Trojans also recently played West Marshall this season. The two squads played eight games and the Trojans won half. They won 21-18, 21-17, 22-21 and 21-19; and fell 21-7, 21-11, 23-21 and 21-13.

Leading the way for the Trojans was Saylor Upah, who served 17-of-19 with 10 aces and Alicia Larve, who served 16-of-19 with nine aces.
