Sabrina Betz is a freshman at STC high school this year.
She is currently in the ICU at Blank Childrens Hospital in Des Moines, where she has been since Sept 21.
What started as suspected flu was eventually diagnosed as a MRSA infection, which has led to many serious complications. Sabrina has had her right lung collapse three times now, has been on dialysis due to impaired kidney function, continues to run a fever and has several other health problems.
To help out her family with the medical expenses as well as the cost of traveling back and forth from Tama to Des Moines, her fellow classmates are holding a Dodgeball tournament at 7 p.m. on Oct 11 at the high school gym to help raise money.
To enter a 10 person team costs $20, or $2 for an individual.
Any and all free will donations will be gladly accepted. If you wish to reserve team spots, or if you have questions, please call either Leah Mann at (641)751-0792 or Whitney Lacina at (641)481-1485.
Donations of bottled water, gatorade etc to be sold at the tournament would also be appreciated. All donations and proceeds will go directly to the Betz family.
