The Tama County Historical & Genealogical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3 at the Museum in Toledo. Marty Mitchell will be the guest speaker. His topic of expertise is " Funeral Traditions and Burial Practices in the Good Old Days".
Mitchell, a native of Marshalltown, has been in funeral service for over 25 years. He has been the owner and director for the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown since February, 2005. The Museum has had an exhibit of old funeral memorabilia now for a number of years. Much of the display was donated by Bob and Joyce Harrison of Harrison's Funeral Home, Tama.
The public is invited to join us for this presentation, followed by social time with refreshments.
