100 Years At The Wieting

In September, 1912, the Wieting Theatre in Toledo opened its doors. In observance of the 100th anniversary a special live program was presented on Saturday night, Sept. 15. Ella and Philip Wieting were portrayed by Marge Ziskovsky, Toledo and Chuck Grenier, Nevada. Ella Wieting paid for construction of the original Wieting?opera house in memory of Philip who was an early industrialist here. (Greiner's mother was a cousin of A.J. Ziskovsky, Marge's husband.)

Longtime Wieting Theatre Guild President RLou Snyder was presented with a bouquet of roses by fellow actresses and former Guild members Bard Crain, Sandy Meek and Carol Peterie. They had reprised their roles in presenting “A?Hole in My Bucket” from a past Wieting Hoedown show. The theatre is owned by the citizens of Toledo and operated by the Guild and a host of volunteers.
