Are you looking to plant a tree or two this fall? Trees provide shade during the summer, vibrant colors in the fall, shelter through the winter, and beauty in the spring? Trees add value to your property. Trees spruce up any community and make your home a better place to live.
If you are an Alliant Energy customer anywhere in the state you have an opportunity to purchase up to two trees for only $25 each but you must act fast.
The Tama County Conservation Board, in conjunction with Alliant Energy and the Iowa DNR, is participating in Operation Releaf again this year. The last time Operation Releaf was hosted in Tama County was 2009. It may be several years until Tama County is able to participate again.
This is how the program works:
You must be an Alliant Energy Customer
For $25 each you can purchase up to two trees to plant on your property. (Alliant Energy pays for the remaining value of the trees.)
Species available are:
Shade Trees (will be in #7 containers and will be between 5' and 8' tall)
American Linden, Hackberry, Kentucky Coffeetree, Swamp White Oak, Sweetgum. Northern Red oaks have sold out.
Flowering Ornamentals (will be in #5 or #7 containers and will be between 4' and 7' tall) Pagoda Dogwood, Serviceberry has been sold out
Conifers (will be in #5 or #7 containers and will be between 2' and 4' tall)
Eastern White Pine , Norway Spruce

Come to Otter Creek Park on October 11, 2012, between 4:30 and 6:30 pm to pick up your trees.
Trees are non-refundable, exchanges will not be accepted, and plant material is under no warranty and/or guarantee.
All net proceeds derived from participation in Tama County's Operation Releaf will go to benefit the programs and operation of the Tama County Nature Center located at Otter Creek Lake and Park.
