Jail time for assaults on city police officers

A pair of assaults on police officers has landed a Toledo man in the Tama County Jail for 75 days.

Keelan Cody Walker, 29, was sentenced to suspended, two-year prison terms on each charge. The sentences were handed down on Sept. 6 by District Court Judge Mitchell L. Turner.

Walker pled guilty to the four charges on Aug. 10.

As part of the sentences the jail time is to be served concurrently. He was also fined $675 on each count and placed on probation for two years to the 6th Judicial District Department of Correctional Services.

He also received concurrent jail sentences on two charges of public intoxication, 3rd or subsequent offense and was fined $625 on each of those counts.

On Sept. 7, 2011, Walker was charged for assaulting Toledo Police Officer Ben Engle by allegedly butting him in the forehead with the back of his head and for public intoxication, 3rd or subsequent offense.

On Oct. 3, 2011, Walker was cited for allegedly assaulting Tama Police Officer Jason Bina by kicking the officer in the knee and for public intoxication, 3rd or subsequent offense
