Iowa Senate candidate Jane Jech has been designated a 'Friend of Agriculture' and endorsed for election to the Iowa Senate by the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation.

"I am honored and extremely pleased to be designated a 'Friend of Agriculture' by the Iowa Farm Bureau," said Jech. "Agriculture is the foundation of Iowa's economy. I will do everything I can to ensure we strengthen that foundation and create good jobs as your state senator," she added.

The grassroots effort to designate Friends of Agriculture is guided by members and begins in July when county committees start evaluating candidates. The nine-member,"bipartisan" PAC committee reviews evaluations and questionnaires, while also considering candidates' positions on issues of importance to members, leadership on Farm Bureau priorities and past voting records.

"Actions matter,"said Dallas County farmer and IFBF PAC Chair Rod Collins. "Our PAC carefully evaluates the candidates' track records to determine who has demonstrated support for our farmers and issues that directly impact their families, businesses and communities. It's a process that emphasizes Farm Bureau policies over partisan politics. The fact that 98 counties participated in the process shows our members are committed and focused on strengthening agriculture and rural Iowa."

The committee encourages Farm Bureau members, and all voters, to consider candidates designated as "Friends of Agriculture"?when?evaluating their choices on Nov. 6. In addition, the committee urges members to volunteer and get involved in the campaigns for those candidates who were designated.

Jech is running to represent Senate District 36, a seat which includes all of Marshall and Tama Counties and a southern portion of Black Hawk County in east central Iowa.
