RLou Snyder promises "It'll be a hot time on the stage" at the Wieting Theatre this Saturday night, Sept. 15, when a full bill of local celebrities reprise their acts from past years. RLou, who has been president of the Theatre Guild for more than 40 years, says this group of local talent "has entertainment for all" to wrap up the 100th year celebration.
As a special tribute to the 100 anniversary, Marge Ziskovsky in the persona of Ella Wieting, will provide commentary between acts. Ella was the benefactor who paid for construction of the Wieting in 1912 and donated it to the residents of Toledo. The Wieting Theatre Opera House doors actually swung open in September of that year.
The theatre has been operated by the Guild, a volunteer organization since 1960. A $1.4 million renovation of the historic structure was just completed.
Marge Ziskovsky will portray Ella Wieting during the Wieting Theatre’s 100 Anniversary Variety Show celebration this Saturday night, Sept. 15.
Following the show anniversary cake will be served at the Toledo Community Building next door and guests will be able to visit with the stars of the evening.
A free-will donation will be taken to benefit the Wieting.
Acts scheduled include: Josh Grimes, Michelle Fetter Potter, Sandy Meek and Carol Peterie's comedy routine and Carol's solo, Chris McFate, Rachel Benda, Mary Fasse-Shaw, Norm Seymour and Stephanie Snow, Just for Kix Dancers, Byron Witt, Troy and Dolores Harris, Rex Crain and Loretta Kvapil.
