Brooke Olsen Owens
Brooke has undergone treatment for Aplastic Anemia.
She was first diagnosed in September, 2007. The disorder is described as the body's immune system attacking the bone marrow and no longer produces blood cells.
Brooke's first treatment was in October, 2007, and was successful until September of 2010 when her numbers dropped again.

Silent Auction and Spaghetti Supper Benefit for Brooke Olsen Owens
Saturday, Sept. 8, 4-8 p.m.
Tama Civic Center, 305 Siegel.
Her second treatment was January, 2011. This treatment was unsuccessful and a bone marrow transplant was the next option. After a search and an unrelated donor match was found the transplant took place in November, 201. Everything with the transplant went well until her numbers dropped at her six month appointment.
Since that time there have been serious complications with her transplant which involves graft versus host where the donor cells attack her body.
Due to the complications of graft versus host she will need a lot of medical care.
