-Letters to the Editor:
I do for the first time EVER agree with DA Benda, about the school buses. I use to observe many children walking to school on the bus route by our home. Now I walk to and from work alone. I see no one. It sure would be nice if families could be more neighborly and help walk each others little ones to school as a group. I do understand that a lot of parents have to go to work themselves before their child goes off to school and that some do not return from their jobs until after thier child has returned home.I do sympathize with you.
I do know for instance that some students only have six blocks or less to walk. And even they ride the bus, because it stops so close to their home, why walk.
We have lived in our home by the school 32 years and have seen the slow decline of walking students. Since anti-bullying is our community policy then maybe we can teach all students to also look out for each other as adults do on their comings and going in the everyday lives of others.
It is a scarry world out there, maybe it is just an idea that is not ready to return right now. So ride the bus if you must, I'll see you later.
