While almost everyone is enjoying the beautifully restored Wieting Theatre, there's a reminder from Jim Roan, project chair, some fund raising remains to pay for the $1.4 million in renovations.
Recent grants and donations have been received from the Mansfield Foundation - $50,000, Pioneer Hi-Bred, Toledo - $5,000, Alliant Energy - $6,000 and the Tama-Toledo Lions - $750.
With those amounts counted, $140,000 remains outstanding, Roan said and he has set a goal of Jan. 1, 2014, to retire the debt.

He noted the estimated interest on the loan for one year totals $6,500.
The 100-year-old playhouse was re-dedicated on July 1 and Roan said the event went very well with the Building Committee and Theatre Guild both very appreciate of the ongoing community support.
The historic theatre saw improvements from new electrical wiring to projection equipment, new, modern restrooms added and new seating. New air conditioning and heating equipment, restoration of floors and the lobby and concession area were all part of the project.

The Wieting is owned by the residents of Toledo. It was a gift from Ella Wieting, a member of a pioneer Toledo family, who prospered here in railroad and banking interests in the mid to late 1800s.
The Wieting is run by the Theatre Guild and staffed by more than 80 volunteers. A Board of Trustees oversees the theatre operations.
