Beginning today , Aug. 23, and ending Sept. 5, officers from the Toledo Police Department will join other law enforcement agencies across Iowa in the next STEP(Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) wave.
Officers will be working extra hours during this event looking for traffic violations including speeding violations, seat bolt violations and alcohol related violations.
The purpose of this special enforcement effort is to attempt to reduce the number of personal Injury and fatal accidents that occur over holiday weekends.

Overtime for officers working these STEP hours is paid for through a grant from the Governor's Traffic Safety Bureau.
