Calling all golfers who are interested in raising money for the South Tama County High School activities programs or those who enjoy a fun golf scramble.
The 5th Annual Kolpin Open will be Saturday at the Tama-Toledo Country Club. It's a four-person best ball contest on the nine-hole golf course. The first groups will tee-off at 8:30 a.m. with the second flight teeing-off at 12:30 p.m.
"There are lots of people that play every year," said Trish Stadler, event organizer. "There are nine holes and eight people per hole, so 72 playing at 8:30 and probably 72 at 12:30. Then we also have a silent auction. We also give away prizes. Everybody walks away with a prize."
The entire event is a fundraiser for STC. It helps the STC boosters give money to the activities which need some extra money.
"It's a fundraiser for the activities programs," Stadler said. "This year, we are trying to fund raise for a digital sign out in front of the school. Last year, most of our money went toward the tennis courts. We gave $22,000 to the tennis courts."
