South Tama County fall sports fans have a chance to preview the football and volleyball teams Friday night, before they play their first official games.
The annual STC Sports Showcase or better known as the Gator Bowl is this Friday evening at the high school. There will be a volleyball scrimmage, a football scrimmage and food.
Only cost of admission is one bottle of Gatorade.
The event is exactly what it says. It's a showcase of the fall sports teams for the fans.
"That's what it is exactly," said Doug Stadler, one of the event coordinators. "It also gives the teams a chance to have a scrimmage before their first games the following week or so."
The STC volleyball team begins the night with a scrimmage at 6 p.m. inside the gymnasium. The volleyball scrimmage should last nearly an hour. The Tama County Cattlemen will also be grilling hamburgers.
Then it's time for the football team to showcase its talent for the 2012 season. The football team will begin scrimmaging at 7 p.m. South Tama's cross country team will also be recognized during the evening.
"It's pretty much all parents that show up," Stadler said. "There might be some fans, but mostly parents. Fans are more than welcome to attend and be a part of the night."
