The Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division (ABD) is alerting customers to a voluntary nationwide recall of 1800 Tequila Silver, Reposado and Coconut in 1.75 liter bottles due to potential glass particles in the bottle.
While there have been no reports of consumer injuries, customers who have affected product should not consume it nor should they allow others to consume it. Anyone who has consumed tequila from an affected bottle and becomes ill or shows signs of complications should see a physician immediately.
According to information provided by Agavera Camichines, S.A. de C.V., the brand owner of 1800 Tequila, damage during transportation and handling to glass bottle stoppers may have caused the presence of small particles of glass. It is believed that only a low percentage of bottles are affected.
Customers who may have purchased affected product may return the bottle to the store where it was purchased or contact Agavera Camichines, S.A. de C.V. for more information at 866-795-8805 or email@example.com.
Bar, restaurants and other on-premises licensees should return product to their "Class E" provider, who may return affected product to ABD.
1800 Tequila in all other bottle sizes as well as 1800 Tequila Anejo, Select Silver and 1800 Ultimate Margarita are not impacted.
Customers are encouraged to check to see if they have affected product by comparing the first nine digits of the 13-digit Lot Code on the side of the bottle against the list of impacted product codes which can be found at 1800Tequila.com.
