The South Tama Music Boosters are making plans for the next music booster trip. On June 9-16, 2013, the choir and band students will be traveling to New York City. They will be riding in deluxe motor coach buses.
Places that they will be staying will be in Cleveland Ohio and New Jersey. Some of the sights that they will see include Cedar Point, Ellis Island South Street Seaport, Hard Rock Cafe, Puglia, Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio, tour Manhattan, excursion to St. Paul's Chapel, Times Square, 5th Avenue, Rockefeller Center, Top of the Rock Observation Deck, USS Intrepid Museum, Statue of Liberty, National September 11 Memorial, ride the subway, NBC Studio Tour, Lincoln Center, Off Broadway Performance of Blue Man Group, attend a Broadway Performance.
Students will also be able to participate in one of the following: Broadway Instrumental Clinic, UP Close and Personal Workshop, Musical Theater Song & Movement Workshop, or Making Music Workshop.
While touring these different sites, they will be performing at Cedar Point Amusement Park, USS Intrepid, St. John the Divine, and at the Bowery Mission.
If students haven't turned in their green parent agreement form, they need to do this as soon as possible so the boosters can determine the total number that will be going and then determine what each student needs to fund raise. These forms can be found on the stc-music.tamatoledo.org website and turned into Janice Upah.
Parent Meeting- Aug. 7
There will be a parents meeting Aug. 7 at the Wieting Theatre at 7 p.m. with more details regarding this trip.
Payment arrangements can be made, and they are encouraging parents to start making payments in September. They are anticipating that it will cost approximately $1,000 per student.
Chaperones are also needed for this trip. Chaperones must be a parent of a music student and have to meet other criteria. If you are interested in being a chaperone, for more information you can contact either Janice Upah or Mary Jo Cherveny.
Fund raising activities are going on now. Current ones include, but are not limited to: On the Town Cards and Kwik Star Gift Cards. The On the Town cards cost $15 and offer discounts at several local businesses. For each card purchased $10 goes into the students music account. The Kwik Star Gift Cards can be used for any item in their store including gasoline. For each card purchased 9% goes into the student's music account. Either of these 2 items would be a good gift idea, and Christmas is coming! You can help these students by purchasing one of these items from them to help them earn money in their account for this trip.
If you have any questions, you can contact Janice Upah at 641-484-5847 or Mary Jo Cherveny at 641-484-2745.
