Tama, once known as "Iuka" and "Tama City" will observe its 150th year with a big celebration downtown this weekend.
Lots of fun-filled events centered around the historical past along with loads of modern-day entertainment are planned.
Events begin Friday with a pie baking contest and live bands at 6 p.m. A street dance also gets underway at 6 p.m.

Tama Firefighters and Ambulance Service members will start off Saturday with a pancake breakfast from 7-9 a.m. at the Fire Station.
From then, events begin with the Tama American Legion and Tama-Toledo Veterans of Foreign Wars Flag presentation at 9 a.m. and a full day of activities get underway with contests and entertainment displays for young and old.
The City of Tama is providing a free meal from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. There are drawings for some great prizes throughout the day.
Saturday activities will be highlighted with a spectacular fireworks display over Cherry Lake.
On Sunday an Ecumenical Church Service will be held at Oak Hill Park at 11 a.m. followed by a potluck picnic and Gospel music at 12:30 p.m.
