Roy Silhanek, Tama, has been appointed as Tama County environmentalist and zoning commissioner, effective immediately. He replaces Bill Christensen who retired from the positions on June 30.
Silhanek is married, has two children, a girl and a boy, and is a graduate of South Tama Community High School.
He has spent fourteen years in the US military service and recently spent time in Afghanistan. While in Afghanistan he worked in the military environmental and sanitation field.

Silhanek was owner and operator of Roy's Auto Service in Tama before going to Afghanistan, but will not continue at this business due to medical problems. He did not feel he could provide the services required for customers best interests.
