State Fire Marshal Raymond A. Reynolds issued the ban on burning in Tama county due to conditions "which open burning constitutes a threat to life or property." The order went into effect on Monday, July 9 at 6 p.m.
The order states the ban will be lifted when the danger subsides.
The ban was requested on behalf of Tama County Fire Departments by Ryan Currens, Emergency Management and E911 director.
