Tama County Career Development contract before Iowa Valley Board

Continued operation of the Tama County Career Development Center in downtown Tama by the Iowa Valley Community College District is on the agenda for the board of directors at their regular monthly meeting today (July 11).

What is described as a new consortium, County Social Services, which includes Tama County, and Iowa Valley are the parties to the contract. The Career Development Center operation has been the responsibility of the Board of Supervisors and Central Point of Coordination Office.

Iowa Valley has operated the center since the late 1970s according to the agenda item. It states a total of 16 adults with disabilities are currently served.

The new contract calls for a two percent increase in cost.

The Iowa Valley Board meets today at 4 p.m. in the District Board Room, .3702 South Center Street, Marshalltown.
