Open burning is prohibited in Tama County until further notice. The ban is in effect beginning at 6 p.m. Monday, July 9.
According to Tama County 911 services, the ban is necessary "because of the extraordinarily dry conditions the county has been enduring over the past several weeks and the increased danger of fire."
