Dream Big---Read!

Week one of Summer Reading:

June 5th was our first program of the summer. We were fortunate to have Jessica Mankin from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources visit us.

Jessica taught us about nocturnal animals and brought pelts from many animals that live in Iowa. It was fun and very informative.

Everyone got to touch the furs-the only way to pet a bobcat, coyote, badger or skunk!

For our craft we made owl puppets and then moved outside to make sidewalk chalk art and bubbles, put on tattoos and eat Ice Pops.

We received the first rain in a long time that day, and we are taking credit for that. It seems like if you plan outdoor activities, it usually rains.

For the first program for the preschool and Kindergarten kids, Kristin Simon from ECICOG visited and read the book "The Gift of Nothing".

She also presented the library with our own copy of the book. The book taught us that who we really are is not about what we have. The kids did a painting sheet for a craft activity, and then we went outside for the rest of the program.

Don't forget to "Like" us on Facebook and see all the pictures from this summer.
