Supervisors approve funding $18 million budget

On Monday, July 2, the Tama County Board of Supervisors approved appropriating funds as adopted in the county budget to the county departments for fiscal year 2013. This total was $18,940,651.

The largest appropriation was to the road department in the amount of $8,916,524 and the smallest was for Bee Hive Inspection in the amount of $200.

reappointed Harold Schuett, Tama, Keith Sash, Gladbrook and Wade Mitchell, Buckingham, to the Tama County Zoning Commission. The reappointments are for six-year terms.

Jeremy Cremeans, Toledo, was approved for appointment to the CERT group.

Donald and Kenneth Storjohann were present to discuss with County Engineer Lyle Brehm a road vacation to allow windmills to be installed. The base of a windmill must be 500 feet or more from any public road, no matter the class of the road.

The road vacation would be on 200th Street in Spring Creek Township.

a public hearing was held at 9:45 a.m. for the County Assessor to transfer funds per the conference board recommendation. This is due to House File 524 which eliminates the Special Appraiser's Fund which was passed this last legislative session. The Assessor's Conference Board has acted on combining this fund with the Assessment Expense Fund as required by the legislation.

a resolution was passed that all Special Appraiser's Fund, Assessor's FICA Fund and Assessor's IPERS Fund be transferred into the Assessment Expense Fund.

approval was given for the 2013 fiscal year transfer of funds from the General Basic Fund and Rural Services Fund to the Secondary Road Fund. A total of $139,974 will be transferred from the General Basics fund to the Secondary Road Fund, and $1,730,927 will be transferred from the rural fund to the secondary road fund.

the quarterly Sheriffs report was received and approved. This shows the balance on hand beginning April 1, 2012 of $3291.50 and an ending balance as of June 30, 2012of $3186.09.

two permits were approved for Windstream for work from the Gladbrook city limits to 220th Street and on E66 in Otter Creek Township.
