Tama Council to hear burn ban comments tonight

The Tama City Council will hear citizen comments about a possible burn ban during the regular meeting tonight (Monday, July 2). Tama Police Chief Dan Wilkens called for the ban two weeks ago due to the dry conditions affecting the area. The meeting is scheduled at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at the Tama Civic Center, 305 Siegel. Counicl meetings are open to the public.

Other agenda items include:

150th Celebration update- Rosemary Brady- closing of 3rd Street between Harmon and Siegel excluding U.S. 63 (State); closing any side streets

Police- resignation of Detective John Carr - recommended hiring process

Jeff Dostal- apartment rental-downtown street level

Public hearing - dispose of real estate at 1304 Trojan Road

Rehab housing project- approval for 600 E. 5th - $15,805

Purchase playground equipment through Community foundation grant for 3rd Street Park

Public Works Director - DNR recommendations - water plant; industrial waste water rate schedule; dike- Flygt pump repairs - $4,425

donations to South Tama Food Pantry and Meals on Wheels - $200 each
