Do not give out personal information to someone identifying themselves as representing Tama County 911 warns 911 and Emergency Management Director Ryan Currens.
A recent incident reported to his office has prompted the alert, he told The News-Herald on Tuesday.
"911 never solicits personal data," Currens said.
"Most of our calls are inbound and if we call, it's usually a follow-up to return a call (we received)," he said.
Report suspicious calls to your local law enforcement agency, he urged.
