During the week of the upcoming Fourth of July Holiday (July 2 to July 8) officers from the Toledo Police Department will join other law enforcement agencies across Iowa in the next STEP (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) wave.
Officers will be working extra hours during this event looking for traffic violations, including, but not limited to, speeding violations, seat belt violations and alcohol related violations. The purpose of this special enforcement effort is to attempt to reduce the number of personal injury and fatal accidents that occur over the holidays. Overtime for officer's working these STEP hours is paid for through a grant from the Governor's Traffic Safety Bureau.
