Emergency Management adds animal cages

June 27, 2012
Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

Tama County Emergency Management Agency now has several animal cages. The cages were purchased through a Homeland Security program to help with animal control in a disaster, at no cost to the county.

Tama County Emergency Management will now be able to provide additional animal cages to the Tama County Sheriff's Office or Tama County Humane Society in the event of a disaster.

In several past national disasters animals left behind in the wake of a disaster were problems for emergency responders and were hard to locate for their owners.

With the addition of these new animal cages Tama County is ready to handle and keep safe more of our four-legged friends in an emergency.
