Fire departments from Tama and Chelsea and ambulances from Belle Plaine and Tama were dispatched shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, for the initial report of a motorcycle-deer accident at U.S. 30 and Tama County Road E66. Radio traffic indicated later the scene was on E66 and it was believed the motorcyclist may have suffered a broken leg. Tama county Sheriff's deputies were also sent to the scene.
