The Tama County Community Foundation (TCCF) has been a steadily growing channel of support for non-profit organizations in the county since 2005.

In its years of existence as an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, TCCF has also been successful in growing endowments and other funds for the betterment of the communities of Tama County.

The foundation is announcing the addition of Allen Ricks. In a limited number of hours each month, Ricks will provide the committee support and will help raise awareness of their activities. This new step in the Foundation's development is also made possible through a grant received from the Iowa Council of Foundations.

Ricks comes to the organization from a background of organizational development work. Most recently he served as a Regional Extension Education Director for Iowa State University Extension for six counties in northeast Iowa, centered in Waterloo, and including Tama County. In retirement, Ricks moved to the Grinnell area to be more readily able to enjoy grandchildren.

Prior to his five years with Iowa State University Extension, Ricks enjoyed nearly 15 years of fund development work for health care agencies in the Waterloo area both at Peoples Community Health Clinic and with the Covenant Health System, where he last served as Executive Director of the Foundations at Covenant and Sartori Hospitals. Following service in the U.S. Peace Corps, the first 17 years of Ricks' professional career were spent in parish ministry in the United Methodist Church. Ricks is also an adjunct instructor for Upper Iowa University.

Ricks is a member of Lions International, and is also active in his church and community. Ricks and his wife, Donna, have one daughter, a son-in-law, and two grandchildren. Ricks states, "I'm pleased and excited to be able to join dedicated volunteers in their work of strengthening the communities in Tama County through charitable and endowed giving. I look forward to meeting new friends in each of the communities in the county as we have this opportunity to work together!"

Chair of the TCCF's governing committee, Rick Krug, states that the committee's planning, and its acceptance of this impact fund grant, moves the committee's work forward in a beneficial way. "We know that the Community Foundation offers a great way for anyone to give back to their community," said Krug.

TCCF's success and growth is due to the efforts of a dedicated group of volunteers who make up the Foundation's governing committee. As a result of the committee's hard work and dedication, TCCF has been awarded a grant opportunity from the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa to contract with an individual to provide development support.
