Lawrence C. Mochal, 89, Toledo, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2012, at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama under the care of Mercy Hospice. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2012. at 2 p.m. at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Paul Rendall officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 11, from 6 - 8 p.m. at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Lawrence was born on Dec. 27, 1922, at the family farm in York Township, Tama County, the son of Charles and Anna (Hladky) Mochal. He was united in marriage to Mildred Zamastil on May 1, 1968, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Lawrence was a lifelong farmer. He lived on the 80-acre family farm for over 85 years. He retired from farming at age 58 but continued raising cattle after that. Lawrence was very knowledgeable about his finances and spent a lot of time studying them. He also had a good sense of humor. Lawrence enjoyed the company of his dog, Sweethart, and cats, Kizzie and Angel. He was a member of the CSA Lodge in Vining.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Mildred Saver.
Lawrence is survived by his wife, Mildred of Toledo.
A memorial fund has been established.
